SKYE JOHNSON

USAT CERTIFIED COACH

Over the last 10 years, I've coached hundreds of Tri with Skye athletes across the finish lines of their first big races. From first sprints to first Iron Mans, to Ultras, you did the work and it has been my pleasure to support and guide you along the way.

Triathlon isn't a sport — It's a way of life.

I began doing triathlons in 2009 on a dare from my friend who said, "I bet you cannot finish a triathlon" …challenge accepted.  I had never swam a lap in my life, didn't own a bike and hated running.  I signed up for an Olympic distance race (without knowing there were different distances) and finished dead last - but finished.  After I laid on the ground for a few minutes, I decided I would NEVER do that again. About 15 minutes after that, I was in my car deciding where I could get faster and my life changed from that moment.

I am sure many endurance athletes have similar stories about how they started in the sport.  Some beginners may look at some of these seasoned athletes and say, "I could never be that fast", but remember they had to start somewhere too.

Some want an outlet for their competitive side, some want to be more fit or lose a few pounds, some were coaxed by friends and some have it on their bucket list.

Whatever your motivation is to tackle something you previously deemed "ridiculous" or "crazy" Tri with Skye is here to guide you — emotionally and physically.

Through Ultimate Tri, my small group of 5 moms in mismatched kits on borrowed bikes multiplied to 25 athletically diverse, enthusiastic women. By 2015, Tri with Skye had sponsors, uniforms and a tribe whose spirit could not be ignored. We caught the eye of Stellar Endurance and merged teams to create a dynamic group of all ability athletes. This fusion enabled me to reach further into the triathlon community and it was then that I added men to my client roster.

By 2017 , as Stellar and the Tri with Skye team grew, I felt confident that I had enough cache and reach to make Tri with Skye my full time job.

If you would have told me in 2013 that I could support myself and my family doing the job that I was most passionate about, I would have been very skeptical. I feel so lucky to get to help you achieve your dreams and am so thankful that you have helped me achieve mine.

The decision to let Stellar go has been bittersweet but I am very excited to have made some space for my priorities.  Stellar may have been “the body” but Tri with Skye has always been the heartbeat. I am committed to keeping the Tri with Skye enthusiasm alive and that relies on a team that is supportive and representative of the values upon which this group was formed 10 years ago.

In furtherance of that goal , I am only accepting clients that uphold the values on which Tri with Skye was created.
